IFOSOF - Initiative for Sourced Feeding | Combatting Malnutrition in Uganda

Welcome to
INITIATIVE FOR SOURCED FEEDING

As we work to create light for others , we naturally create our own way

Step into the world of INITIATIVE FOR SOURCED FEEDING (IFOSOF), an extraordinary non-governmental organization born and thriving in the heart of Uganda since 2019 and fully registered in 2021. We are not just a group, but a dedicated force with one resounding mission: to find a lasting solution to malnutrition, especially in the homes of those who need it the most – the urban poor.

Our journey is marked by a profound commitment to collecting vital data on child malnutrition and arming mothers with the knowledge to cultivate nutrition-rich gardens right at home. But that's just the beginning. We're not content with just information – we're turning it into action.

In a move that is nothing short of groundbreaking, we are in the process of constructing a farm and factory that will churn out nutritious delights, tailor-made for the communities of the urban poor. These wholesome products will be the lifeline for countless lives. We're not just talking the talk; we're walking the walk, and we want you to join us on this awe-inspiring journey.

The road we've travelled thus far has been nothing short of remarkable. Side by side with the urban poor communities of Uganda, we've relentlessly pursued solutions to malnutrition. We're not an outsider trying to make a difference; we're a part of this vibrant, diverse nation, and we couldn't be prouder.

Join hands with us, and let's create a brighter, healthier future for the children of Uganda. Together, we can turn the tide against child malnutrition and pave the way for a flourishing nation.
Our roots are in Uganda and we take admirable pride in this.

THE ISSUE

Between February 2022 and January 2023, it is projected that over 100,000 children aged 6-59 months and 12,000 pregnant and lactating women will experience acute malnutrition. Additionally, almost 37% of children under the age of 15 suffer from chronic malnutrition. To address this issue, it's crucial to address the root cause of malnutrition. It's important to note that simply providing food doesn't necessarily equate to good nutrition. This is a key focus of our mission within the communities we serve in, as well as throughout Uganda.

THE SOLUTION

Prepare to delve into the heart of our mission. At IFOSOF, we're all about mission-critical actions that shape a sustainable future for those who need it most. Our goal is to ignite the flames of hope in the hearts of children, and we wield the power of proper nutrition to achieve it.

But we don't stop at surface-level change. We're diving headfirst into the depths, tackling the very roots of malnutrition. Our vision is a world where families and communities are armed with the knowledge, resources, and unwavering support they need to nourish their lives. This is no mere endeavour; it's a commitment to empower and uplift.

Investing in the nutrition of mothers and their little ones isn't just a gesture; it's a transformational catalyst. Well-nourished children aren't just healthier; they're resilient. They thrive in the classroom, and their bodies and minds embark on a journey of vibrant growth and development. We're here to make a change, and the change begins with all of us.
